Chewy Granola Bars

It’s back-to-school time! Bake these homemade granola bars each Sunday for afterschool snacks all week. These portable goodies are excellent for throwing in a backpack or gym bag, and eating on-the-go.

4 cups Best Choice® extra raisins
raisin bran cereal, lightly crushed
1 cup Best Choice® rice crisps cereal
1 cup Best Choice® quick oats
¼ cup Best Choice® chopped almonds
2/3 cup Best Choice® brown sugar, firmly packed
2/3 cup Best Choice® light corn syrup
¼ cup Best Choice® margarine
1 tsp Best Choice® vanilla extract



Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease bottom and sides of a 9-inch square pan. Combine raisin bran, rice crisp, oats and almonds in a large bowl; set aside. Bring brown sugar, corn syrup and margarine to a boil in a small saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir vanilla. Pour sugar mixture over cereal mixture, stirring until evenly coated. Press mixture into prepared pan. Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes. Cool completely. Cut in bars.
