Italian Meatloaf Burgers

1 lb Lean Ground Beef
1/2 lb Italian Sausage
1/2 cup Chopped Parsley
1 tbsp Best Choice Dried Basil
1 tbsp Best Choice Dried Oregano
3/4 cup Best Choice Italian Breadcrumbs
1 Best Choice Egg
1 Small White Onion, finely diced
2 Cloves Garlic, minced
2 tbsp Best Choice Olive Oil
Best Choice Salt
Best Choice Pepper

6 Ciabatta Rolls, Kaiser Rolls or Best Choice Hamburger Buns
6 slices Best Choice Provolone or Smoked Mozzarella
1 jar Best Choice Marinara Sauce


Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Over medium heat, sweat the onions and garlic together with one tablespoon of the olive oil until the onions are translucent. Set aside to cool.

Mix together the ground beef, Italian sausage, parsley, dried basil, oregano, egg, and breadcrumbs. Fold the onion into the meat mixture and form into 6 patties. Brown the patties with the remaining olive oil over medium heat in a saute pan, about 2-3 minutes each side. Place the patties into an ovenproof dish and finish cooking in the oven for an additional 20 minutes.

While the patties are cooking, heat the marinara sauce. Place the burgers on the buns and top with the cheese and marinara sauce.
