Missouris Shoal Chapter, DAR

In Lathrop, Missouri, the 38 members of the Missouris Shoal Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution collect Best Choice® labels to support their society’s goals of historical preservation, education and patriotism through a variety of activities.

We honor all of our Veterans and their families, wrote Anne Wolfe, who nominated the organization. In addition, The money we receive is sent to the American Indian Schools and Programs such as the Chemawa Indian School and the American Indian Youth Summer Camp. NSDAR American Indian Committee is entrusted to the continuing education of the history and culture of this community as well as support of the education and cultural pursuit of its citizens.

Members shop at The Cameron Market, Price Chopper grocery stores and Hy-Klass to find their favorite Best Choice® products and collect labels. They bring labels to meetings and aggregate them for their fundraising.

Other activities supported by the Missouris Shoal Chapter, DAR include: supporting the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Cameron, Mo by donating clothing, giving to the Christmas Gift Shop, and serving cake and ice cream. Veterans are interviewed and honored at the chapter’s meetings as Patriot of the Month with certificates and recognition. They also support programs about Revolutionary War times, research family history, and give copies of the U.S. Constitution to students in nearby elementary schools who are studying it.
