National Hot and Spicy Food Day is August 19. This day is dedicated to Hot and Spicy Food. From hot sauce to hot spices, if you are a spice lover, this is your day. Incorporating a little heat in your diet amplifies the flavor of the food too. Here are a few ways to use some of Best Choice’s spicy food items.
Hot Sauce
Let’s start with the most obvious way to bring the heat to your weeknight plate. Our Best Choice Hot Sauce packs a punch. Reduce your chicken broth by 1/4 cup and replace it with 1/4 cup Hot Sauce in your one-pot chicken and rice dish for a Buffalo-style Chicken and Rice. Add hot sauce to fried chicken or catfish.
Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
Best Choice Crushed Red Pepper Flakes are a bit milder, yet these flakes still bring the heat. Sprinkle these flakes on pasta and seafood. Our Salmon Italiano and our Healthy Chicken & Rice for Two both incorporate our crushed red pepper flakes.
Taco Sauce
Likely the most mild source of spicy food, a variety of Best Choice taco sauce add a flavor and subtle flavor. Since taco sauce is tomato based, consider replacing diced tomatoes with taco sauce. This pairs perfectly with Mexican rice or even a spicy chili.
