Smoking a Turkey
Directions
Remove the neck and giblets from the turkey and pat the turkey dry.
Rub the minced garlic all over the turkey, then sprinkle the entire outside of the bird with seasoned salt.
Place the turkey in a large roasting pan or disposable aluminum pan. Stuff the large cavity of the bird with the remaining ingredients. Cover the turkey loosely with foil.
Prepare the smoker and heat to 250ºF. Place the turkey in the smoker and baste every 1-2 hours with turkey juices from the pan.
Smoke until the internal temperature reaches 180ºF in the thickest part of the thigh. It’s good to plan 30 minutes per pound when you smoke a turkey between 225-250ºF.
Remove the turkey from the smoker and allow it to sit, still covered with foil, for 10 minutes before slicing.
Brown Gravy
Directions
Whisk the gravy mix with 1 cup of water in a small saucepan.
Bring the mix to a boil, stirring occasionally.
Simmer for 1-2 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally.
Cornbread Stuffing
Directions
Bring 1 ½ cups of water and ¼ cups of butter to a boil in medium saucepan.
Stir in contents of Stuffing Mix pouch.
Remove from heat.
Cover and let stand for 5 minutes. Then fluff with a fork and serve.
Mashed Potatoes
Directions
Boil 2 cups of water.
Add the contents of the Butter & Herb Mashed Potatoes to the boiled water and stir with a fork to moisten all the potatoes.
Let stand about 1 minute until the liquid is absorbed.
Stir and serve.
Green Bean Casserole
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Lightly grease an 8 x 8 inch pan with Best Choice Cooking Spray.
In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, and black pepper until smooth.
Fold the drained green beans and 2/3 cup of french fried onions into the soup mixture. Pour the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
Bake uncovered at 350°F for 25 minutes until the casserole is hot and bubbling around the edges.
Remove from the oven and stir gently.
Sprinkle the remaining 1/3 cup of french fried onions evenly over the top.
Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the onions are golden brown and crisp.
Pumpkin Pie
Directions
Preheat your oven to 375°F. Place your graham cracker crust on a rimmed baking sheet for stability and easy handling.
In a small bowl, combine the sugar, salt, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs lightly. Whisk in the pumpkin and the sugar-spice mixture until smooth. Gradually stir in the evaporated milk until completely incorporated.
Pour the pumpkin mixture into the graham cracker crust.
*Note: Standard graham crusts hold about 3 to 3.5 cups of filling; do not overfill past the inner crust rim.
Bake at 375°F for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. The center should have a slight jiggle but be set around the edges.
Transfer the pie to a wire rack and cool completely at room temperature for 2 hours.
Chill in the refrigerator before slicing to ensure neat, clean cuts.
