A warm hug for your waffles! This Triple Berry Compote simmers Best Choice Superior Selections Frozen Triple Berry Fruit Blend into a sweet, tangy sauce that’s perfect for draping over golden waffles. Bursting with fall color and flavor, it’s a breakfast worth savoring on crisp autumn mornings.
Directions
Add the frozen berry blend and sugar to a large pot.
Finely zest the lemon and add the zest to the pot.
Then cut the lemon in half, juice it, and add the juice to the pot with the berries, sugar, and zest.
Place the pot on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
Wait until the berries have mostly defrosted before giving the mixture a good stir.
Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it cook, uncovered, until it reduces by half, about 30 – 35 minutes. Stir occasionally.
*You will be able to see when it has reduced enough by looking at the berry juice marks on the side of the pan.
Once ready, turn off the heat and allow the compote to cool for 5 minutes before topping your Best Choice Waffles.
Or allow the compote to cool completely before transferring it to a sealable container or jar.
Refrigerate the compote for up to 2 weeks.
